The NHL comes to the Barclays Center where the New York Islanders host the Arizona Coyotes.
The Arizona Coyotes look for a change in fortunes with a road trip to face the New York Islanders. Arizona comes off of a 4-2 defeat to the visiting Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday night to stay winless on the season.
Chicago was not an ideal opponent for the Coyotes who had won this matchup seven times heading in to Saturday. The balanced Blackhawks attack saw scoring from Patrick Kane, Lance Bouma, Richard Panik and Tommy Wingels in to the empty net. Jonathan Toews posted a pair of helpers and Chicago received 27 stops from Corey Crawford to end a two game skid.
The Coyotes drew first blood at 7:47 of the first period on a Christian Fischer tally with rookie Clayton Keller scoring in the second period to erase a 2-1 deficit but the offense could not generate anything else. Louis Dominigue absorbed the loss for Arizona with three goals allowed on 25 shots to fall to 0-4.
The New York Islanders welcome the struggling Arizona Coyotes to town on Tuesday night. New York will be gunning for their third consecutive victory after downing the visiting San Jose Sharks 5-3 on Saturday.
The Islanders scored three times in the third with Andrew Ladd, Anders Lee and John Tavares each lighting the lamp. Lee also scored in the second along with Josh Bailey while Tavares added a pair of helpers and Lee finished off a three point night with an assist to make the 28 saves of Thomas Greiss a winner for New York.
Logan Couture led San Jose with a hat trick with Brent Burns and Joe Thornton each logging a pair of assists. Sharks goalie Aaron Dell allowed four goals on 22 shots as the team saw their two game winning streak end.
Over is 5-1 in Coyotes last 6 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game and over is 4-1-1 in Coyotes last 6 overall and Coyotes are 1-4 in their last 5 when their opponent scores 5 goals or more in their previous game. Under is 4-0 in Islanders last 4 Tuesday games and under is 4-0 in Islanders last 4 after scoring 5 goals or more in their previous game and under is 7-1 in Islanders last 8 vs. Western Conference. Coyotes are 0-4 in the last 4 meetings in New York and home team is 5-0 in the last 5 meetings and over is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings in New York.
I’m tempted to go with the Islanders given the struggles of the Coyotes or possibly the over when goalies are announced…
