The Islanders look to shake off a two game losing skid as they host the Buffalo Sabres in Brooklyn on Sunday.
The Buffalo Sabres have recorded four victories so far this season and have surprised some teams in the first part of the schedule as their young core has played pretty well butt he question remains whether or not it can be sustained. Buffalo has a bright future ahead but in the mean time they have some growing pains on the horizon and some headaches to deal with as they look to finalize their on ice product moving forward. The Sabres will likely tuen to Chad Johnson in this spot as he will loko down the ice at Jaroslav Halak who remains New York's best option in the crease.
New york has dropped back to back games in overtime and while they salvaged two points as a result of their losing ways you can bet they'd love to get back in the win column with a big effort on Sunday. The Islanders have one of the best rosters in the Eastern Conference and after making the postseason in back to back seasons they will look to bang the door down and walk through this season in what is a very competitive Metropolitan division. The Islanders will likely bring in a couple of pieces at the trade deadline as they could use another defenseman and a role playing forward and if they can bring in the right piece they will be tough to beat. In the mean time the Isles should get back in the win column here against an over matched Sabres team that doesn't have enough offense to keep pace with New York tonight.
