The Isles look for a much needed win at home on Saturday when they welcome the lowly Buffalo Sabres to town.
The Sabres continue their dismal season on the road against the Islanders on Saturday in the second half of a double header after they dropped a 4-3 decision at home to the Blackhawks last night. Buffalo has long been out of the playoff picture and have been the favourites to land the top overall draft pick since Christmas and last night was another example of how this team defines losing hockey games as they gave up two late goals in the third period to lose and avoid even picking up the single point. The Sabres need a franchise piece to rally around and getting Connor McDavid would certainly fit the mold and with the season winding down don't expect Buffalo to be winning any more contests.
The Isles have had a disappointing fall from grace as they have gone from leading the Metro division for most of the season to running the risk of slipping into a wild card spot and with a 2-6-2 record in their last 10 games they can't be happy backing their way into a potential playoff berth. New York does have a good team and while they may not be soon as an elite level group yet there were some who were ready to crown them Eastern Conference champions in January so they must have some solid pieces and the potential to do well come playoff time. New York faces an absolute must win here and there is no other way to bet this game except for the puck line.
