Carolina Hurricanes (22-30-7) at New York Islanders (41-20-2)
|Date & Time||Saturday February 28, 2015, 5:00 PM (EST)|
The Line: New York Islanders -185 / Carolina Hurricanes +166 --- Over/Under: 5.5
The Hurricanes look to spoil the party on Long Island on Saturday as they head into Nassau to battle with the division leading Islanders.
Carolina has had a tough go this season and while many anticipated they would at the beginning of the year it is still tough to see them sitting in last place in the Metro and in the running for a lottery pick in the draft. The Canes have been playing much better of late as they have won two in a row including last night against the Washington Capitals and they can earn their third straight with a solid effort on the road against the Isles. The Canes will likely stick with Cam Ward tonight though he could be on the move at the trade deadline and he will go up against Jaroslav Halak who is fresh off of setting a franchise record for wins in a season.
The Islanders have been great to watch this season as a team with so much potential is finally living up to it after years of knocking on the door and they could very well lock up the top seed in the Eastern Conference. New York made some great moves in the offseason by bringing in the likes of Halak, Nick Leddy, and Johnny Boychuk and to add to a group that already includes John Tavares it has been a great recipe for success and they should be treated as a threat in the East. The Isles are coming off a win last night and will be heavy favourites here and while the Canes seem to get up for big games I think they are outmatched and outclassed here by a confident Islanders side.
