The Blackhawks look to avoid the sweep at the hands of the New York teams as they head into Brooklyn to take on the Islanders.
The Chicago Blackhawks were in a tough spot in their season opener as they drew the New York Rangers as their opponent and they had to endure an exciting yet time consuming and perhaps energy draining banner ceremony that always seems to favour the road team. The Hawks were competitive but ended up on the short end of the result and now they head into the Barclay's Center to take on the Islanders who will play in their home opener in their new arena after years of playing in the Nassau Coliseum. The Hawks will look to spoil the party and in order to do so they'll need to get their offense rolling as the Isles will be among the league leaders in goals scored this season if all goes to plan.
The Islanders were a playoff team a season ago but came up short in the Metro bracket and they will be in the mix again this season but will have to deal with the likes of the Rangers, Capitals, and Penguins. New York has been a team on the rise over the last few seasons and this year should continue that trend as some sources have them as the favourites in the Metro division and if they can stick to the script they have a good shot at getting there and their new building brings even more excitement to the fold. I think the Isles are in a good spot here despite playing a quality opponent but in the end I think they get the victory.
