Sunday NHL action features the Dallas Stars taking the ice at the New York Islanders.

The Dallas Stars had dropped four of five before earning a 1-0 victory against visiting Boston in an overtime defensive struggle on Friday. The Bruins offense was bottled up and Tuuka Rask kept the team in the game with an outstanding 36 save performance.

The Stars only goal came just 94 seconds in to the extra session off the stick of Jason Dickerson. Mattias Janmark posted an assist and Ben Bishop brushed aside 23 shots to pick up the win for Dallas.

The New York Islanders have won consecutive contests after outscoring the rival NY Rangers on Thursday. Chris Kreider scored twice for the Rangers with Fredrik Claesson, Kevin Hayes and Filip Chytil also supplying markers. Henrik Lundqvist gave up five goals on on 17 shots for the Rangers before Alexandar Georgiev gave up a goal on six shots in relief.

Anthony Beauvillier topped the NYI offensive explosion with a hat trick with Brock Nelson, Anders Lee, Leo Komarov and Hal Clutterback joining the scoring spree. Thamas Greiss picked up the win for the Islanders despite allowing five goals on 41 shots.

Under is 4-0 in Stars last 4 vs. Eastern Conference and under is 6-1-1 in Stars last 8 road games and Stars are 5-1 in their last 6 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game. Over is 4-0 in Islanders last 4 when their opponent scores 2 goals or less in their previous game and over is 3-0-2 in Islanders last 5 overall and Islanders are 0-5 in their last 5 vs. Central. Over is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings in New York and Stars are 1-4 in the last 5 meetings in New York and home team is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings.

If I were to bet this it would be small on the Islanders with no clear cut edge on either side…

Pick:

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
