The New York Islanders will play their fifth straight home game when they host the Florida Panthers on Sunday afternoon. This is the second of three scheduled meetings this season, as the Panthers won the previous matchup back in January.

If you thought the Panthers were a bad hockey team before, they’ve really fallen apart over the last month, losing seven of their last eight games. Their most recent loss came Saturday to the Columbus Blue Jackets, as they gave up six goals. They’ve now allowed four or more goals in seven of their last nine games. Offensively, they’ve been held to one goal in three of their last six matchups. The Panthers are 11-17-1-2 on the road this season.

The Islanders are coming off a brutal home loss the New Jersey Devils on Saturday. They allowed six goals, which included four goals in the second period alone. The Islanders have now lost eight of their last 10 games.  Much like the Panthers, they’ve allowed four or more goals in eight of those contests. They’ve also scored two or less goals in six of their last seven games. The Islanders are 9-14-4-4 on their home ice this season.

Unless you prefer to watch bad hockey, this is one of those games you’re probably better off skipping. Neither team is playing with any consistency, which makes for a betters nightmare. However, neither team has been able to stop the puck from going into the net, which makes the total look tasty.

I’m going with the over.

The over has hit in four of the last seven meetings between these two teams. It’s also 8-1 in the Islanders last nine home games and 6-1 in the Panthers last seven road games.

Yeah, give me the over, please.
