NHL action comes to the Barclays Center where the New York Islanders host the Florida Panthers.

The Florida Panthers are fighting for a wild card with victories in three of four capped off by a 4-2 win versus visiting Arizona. The Coyotes received scoring from Clayton Keller and Richard Panik with Darcy Kuemper giving up three goals on 46 shots.

Vincent Trocheck led a four goal third period explosion for the Panthers explosion with a pair of tallies with Denis Malgin and Jamie McGinn also lighting the lamp. All three also added helpers and James Reimer recorded the win with 26 saves.

The New York Islanders possess one of the more potent offenses in the game but that hasn’t been enough to keep the team in playoff contention. New York has dropped five of six following a 3-1 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks where John Tavares scored and Jaroslav Halak stopped 22 shots.

Patrick Kane and Brandon Saad scored second period goals for the Blackhawks with Brent Seabrook scoring on the empty net with 74 seconds remaining to secure the two points. Anton Forsberg picked up the win for Chicago with a 31 save performance.

Panthers are 6-0 in their last 6 road games vs. a team with a losing home record and Panthers are 7-1 in their last 8 when their opponent scores 2 goals or less in their previous game and Panthers are 6-1 in their last 7 vs. Metropolitan. Islanders are 0-4 in their last 4 vs. Atlantic and Islanders are 0-4 in their last 4 Monday games and Islanders are 1-9 in their last 10 vs. a team with a winning record. Under is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings in New York and road team is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings and under is 5-2-1 in the last 8 meetings.

The Panthers are fighting for their postseason lives so I’m hoping to see this team bring their ‘A’ game to New York…

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
