The Wild look for their third win in a row and second in as many nights as they travel from Toronto to New York to face off against the Islanders.
The Minnesota Wild have taken the league by storm and after a sluggish first half of the season they have picked things up in a hurry after the change of the calendar and are right in the mix in the Western Conference playoff race. Minnesota has gone 7-3 in their last 10 games and sit atop the leader board in the West wild card standings and if they can get a win on the road tonight it would put them in a great position to securing a place in the league's final 16. Minny has ridden the play of Devan Dubnyk who has started 33 straight games since coming over from the Arizona Coyotes and he will likely get the call once again as he has been absolutely brilliant between the pipes for the Wild and should be in the discussion for the Vezina. Dubnyk will go up against Jaroslav Halak who will be looking to turn the fortunes around for the Isles who have been struggling of late.
The Islanders have stumbled to a 3-5-2 record in their last 10 contests and haven't looked like the team that was atop the Metro division for most of the season and now they aren't that team as they relinquished that title to their cross town rivals for the time being. New York sits seven points back of the Rangers for the division lead and have played two more games than the Blue Shirts so things look pretty comfortable for the Rangers at this point as we can almost pencil them in as division winners with the way they're playing. New York has 23 wins at home this season but the Wild have 21 wins on the road and in terms of goal differential it is actually Minnesota who is the better of the two and I think they get another big time win here against the Isles.
