The Islanders look to avoid dropping their third game in a row and second in as many nights as they welcome the Canadiens to town.
The Montreal Canadiens will look to separate themselves from the Tampa Bay Lightning atop the Atlantic division standings and inch closer to the 100 point mark with a victory on the road against the Islanders on Saturday night. Montreal has gone 5-3-2 in their last 10 contests but they are coming off a home loss against the Senators who is the same group that went into Long Island last night and upended the Isles setting up a trifecta here between these two Eastern Conference foes. The Habs have been as consistent as they come all season long and a huge part of their success this season has been the MVP type year from goaltender Carey Price and with a similar stretch to close out the season it'll be tough to not only give Price the Vezina as the league's top goalie but the Hart as well as the league MVP.
New York has been one of the more pleasant surprises this season as a franchise who has been a doormat for so many years since their glory days of the early 80's has come back to life and is fuelled by their youth and team speed. The Isles are a team that can do some damage come playoff team as they have some great defenders playing in front of Jaroslav Halak and an offense led of course by John Tavares but a team like Montreal is just as good if not better across the board and while they don't have the superstar name up front like New York does they have some headliners on the blue line and obviously in the crease. Halak faces off against the team who gace up on him in favour of Price and he would love to shut the door. However, I dont see it happening and I think this one stays under the number and Montreal gets the win.
