The Nashville Predators play on the road at the New York Islanders in Saturday NHL action.

The Nashville Predators kicked off the 2018-19 schedule with a tense 3-2 win at the New York Rangers Thursday. Filip Forsberg, PK Subban and Colton Sissons tallied for Nashville with Sissons also adding an assist.

Jesper Fast scored in the second for the Rangers with Pavel Buchnevich scoring with just 35 seconds remaining in the game. Pekka Rinne picked up the win for the Predators with 34 saves while Henrik Lundqvist stopped 30 shots in defeat.

The New York Islanders began the season on a positive note with a 2-1, overtime victory at Carolina on Thursday. Valtteri Filppula scored in the second period for the Islanders while Josh Bailey netted a PP goal in the extra session.

Carolina saw Jordan Staal find the back of the net with only

1:35 remaining in the third period off assists from Dougie Hamilton and Sebastian Aho. Thomas Greiss picked up the win for New York with a monster 45 stops while Petr  Mrazek made 18 saves in the loss.

Over is 4-0 in Predators last 4 Saturday games and Predators are 6-1 in their last 7 vs. Metropolitan and Predators are 1-6 in their last 7 games following a win. Over is 4-0 in Islanders last 4 after allowing 2 goals or less in their previous game and Islanders are 4-0 in their last 4 overall and over is 5-0 in Islanders last 5 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of greater than .600. Road team is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings and over is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings.

I am backing Nashville after watching  the Islanders struggle to keep the puck off their goalie in their opener…

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
