The New York Islanders host the New York Rangers in the second leg of their home-and-home series in NHL action on Saturday.

The New York Rangers have dropped five straight after a 4-3 loss to the visiting Islanders on Thursday. Despite the loss this was one of the Rangers better offensive nights.

Ryan Strome, Kevin Shattenkirk and Jesper Fast all supplied goals for the Blue Shirts who managed goals in each period. The Rangers struggled between the pipes with Henrik Lundqvist allowing all four goals on 20 shots.

The New York Islanders have enjoyed some success against their rivals and the offense helped to continue that success.

Mathew Barzal, Jordan Eberle, Anders Lee and Josh Bailey all lit the lamp for the Islanders. Barzal and Johnny Boychuk each supplied a pair of helpers and Robin Lehner recorded 27 saves to get the win for the Isles.

Over is 3-0-1 in Rangers last 4 road games vs. a team with a winning home record and Rangers are 0-5 in their last 5 games playing on 1 days rest and over is 7-0 in Rangers last 7 Saturday games. Islanders are 6-0 in their last 6 Saturday games and Islanders are 7-1 in their last 8 overall and Islanders are 6-1 in their last 7 in the second game of a home-and-home situation. Rangers are 0-7 in the last 7 meetings in New York and home team is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings and Rangers are 5-16 in the last 21 meetings.

For whatever reason the Islanders have had a great deal of success in this matchup and I’d give them a look…

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
