The Islanders and Rangers meet up in New York on Wednesday as these two Metro division rivals look to gain the upper hand in their season series.
The New York Rangers head into Brooklyn on Wednesday to take on the Isles in a cross town show down between two of the better teams in the Eastern Conference as the Blue Shirts can extend their division lead while the Isles look for their third in a row. New York has a ton of fire power and should be considered amongst the league's best teams and despite four losses in their last 10 games overall they only have six in regulation all season and have the third best record in the entire NHL. Henrik Lundqvist will continue to log minutes in the New York crease as he will go up against Jaroslav Halak at the other end who continues to be the work horse of the Isles.
The Islanders haven't had the start many envisioned in the preseason but they have started to turn a corner and head into tonight's game having won back to back games and are just six points back of the Rangers for first place. The Isles have a great young roster and while they have some holes that are glaring they do have enough talent to overcome them until they are filled and against a good team like the Rangers they are going to have to play very well to cover them up. These two teams always seem to play each other tightly and while the values lies with the Rangers I do think the Islanders will get up for this one and perhaps put up their best outing of the season.
