The New York Islanders host the Philadelphia Flyers in a Sunday NHL tilt.

The Philadelphia Flyers are trying to heat up with wins in three of four after routing New Jersey 6-3 on the road Friday. Damon Severson, Jesper Bratt and Kevin Rooney lit the lamp for New Jersey. Severson assisted twice for the Devils and Cory Schneider gave up five goals on 23 shots.

Philadelphia saw James van Riemsdyk and Travis Konecny score two times each with Sean Couturier and Ivan Provorov adding markers. Jacub Voracek supplied four helpers for Flyers and Cam Talbot picking up the win with three goals allowed on 33 shots.

The New York Islanders need a change in momentum after a 3-1 loss against visiting Washington on Friday left the team with losses in four of six. Tom Kuhnhackl scored unassisted for the Islanders in the first and Thomas Greiss took the loss with two goals given up on 28 shots.

Jakub Vrana, Alex Ovechkin and TJ Oshie scored third period goals for the Capitals. Oshie also had an assist and Braden Holtby picked up the win with a 20 save performance.

Flyers are 4-1 in their last 5 road games vs. a team with a winning home record and Flyers are 15-5 in their last 20 overall and Flyers are 6-2 in their last 8 road games.

Islanders are 8-2 in their last 10 games as a home favorite and Islanders are 4-1 in their last 5 vs. Metropolitan and Islanders are 7-2 in their last 9 in the third game of a 3-in-4 situation.

Flyers are 41-17 in the last 58 meetings and favorite is 47-15 in the last 62 meetings and over is 6-0 in the last 6 meetings.

The Islanders are the better team but the Flyers have been playing well at nice odds…

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
