The Pittsburgh Penguins visit the Barclays Center for an NHL matchup with the New York Islanders.
The Pittsburgh Penguins are trying to make a run at Washington for the top spot in the Metropolitan. Pittsburgh is shooting for back to back wins after downing Montreal 5-3 with Arturi Lehkonen, Nicolas Deslauriers and Paul Byron scoring for the Canadiens with Anti Niemi allowing four goals on 38 shots.
Patric Hornqvist topped the Penguins offense with a pair of goals with Phil Kessel, Evgni Malkin and Bryan Rust also scoring. Kris Letang gave Pittsburgh a pair of helpers and Tristan Jarry upped his record to 14-6-2 with 17 saves on 20 shots.
The New York Islanders have one victory in nearly a month with the defensive end of the ice causing the majority of the issues. New York comes in off of a 4-3 defeat to Carolina where Anders Lee scored twice with Josh Bailey also lighting the lamp while Jaroslav Halak giving up four goals on 39 shots.
The balanced Hurricanes offense received scoring off the sticks of Jacob Slavin, Lee Stempniak, Victor Rask and Trevor van Riemsdyk. Joakim Nordstrom gave Carolina a pair of assists and Scott Darling picked up the win with a 26 save performance.
Over is 8-0 in Penguins last 8 road games and over is 4-0 in Penguins last 4 road games vs. a team with a losing home record and over is 4-0 in Penguins last 4 vs. Eastern Conference. Over is 4-0 in Islanders last 4 home games and over is 4-0 in Islanders last 4 home games vs. a team with a losing road record and Islanders are 0-5 in their last 5 vs. Metropolitan. Under is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings in New York and Penguins are 39-17 in the last 56 meetings.
A road game and high juice are certainly less then ideal but I’m going with the team in the playoff hunt…
