The Tampa Bay Lightning look to continue their dominance over the New York Islanders as the two sides meet up in Brooklyn on Friday night.

The Lightning are coming off a tough loss on the road against the Pittsburgh Penguins and will be out for a much better effort as they continue their Metro division road trip with a date in Brooklyn against the surprising New York Islanders. The Bolts have been on a tear over the last season and a half and are certainly looking like a Cup contender at the moment as they have depth from top to bottom in the lineup and have the fire power offensively to compete with any team in the NHL. However, they will be in tough on Friday as they face off against an Isles side who has re-established their identity and Robin Lehner has been among the best goalies in the league this season and he will get the call here against the Lightning.

The Islanders come into tonight’s game with a 4-0 mark in their last 4 games at the Barclay’s Center and they are a perfect 6-0 in their last 6 games against the Atlantic division, but they have struggled against the Lightning over the last couple of years as they are 2-10 in their last 12 games versus Tampa Bay. New York was considered an afterthought this season after they lost John Tavares to the Toronto Maple Leafs but they have actually been better without him as the team has fully committed to a group mentality and have relied on defense and goaltending to win games this season. New York is 5-1 in their last 6 overall and are a juicy underdog on home ice as most teams are when they face off against Tampa.

The Lightning are 5-1 in their last 6 Friday games and 10-4 in their last 14 road games while the Isles are 8-2 in their last 10 against the East but 1-5 in their last 6 at home against the Lightning. The Bolts know they need a stronger effort defensively after a debacle against the Pens and that should come here in a game that stays under the number.
