The Barclays Center and the New York Islanders host the Toronto Maple Leafs in a Friday NHL bout.
The Toronto Maple Leafs have been motoring towards the playoffs with wins in seven of nine after downing Florida 4-3 Wednesday. Jonathan Huberdeau scored twice for the Panthers with Evgenii Dadonov also lighting the lamp while Roberto Luongo allowed four goals on 35 shots.
Mitch Marner, Auston Matthews and Patrick Marleau scored first period goals for the Maple Leafs with James van Riemsdyk adding the winner in the third. Marner also had an assist to make a winner of Frederik Andersen and his 30 saves.
The New York Islanders haven’t had much to cheer about this season and in recent weeks but the team has a chance for back to back wins after outscoring Ottawa 4-3 on Tuesday. The Senators offense came from Matt Duchene, Erik Karlsson and Bobby Ryan with Mike Condon giving up four goals on 31 shots.
New York featured goals off the sticks of Anders Lee, Anthony Beauviller, Brock Nelson and Andrew Ladd. Matthew Barzal added a pair of helpers for the Islanders and Jaroslav Halak improved to 19-26-6 with three goals allowed on 36 shots.
Over is 5-0 in Maple Leafs last 5 road games and over is 5-0 in Maple Leafs last 5 vs. Metropolitan and Maple Leafs are 4-1 in their last 5 games playing on 1 days rest. Islanders are 1-10 in their last 11 vs. a team with a winning record and Islanders are 1-8 in their last 9 games following a win and Islanders are 1-7 in their last 8 home games. Over is 9-2 in the last 11 meetings in New York and over is 38-18-2 in the last 58 meetings and home team is 44-21-1 in the last 66 meetings.
The respective offenses seem to shine when these teams take the ice so my lean is the over…
