The Las Vegas Golden Knights look to stay red hot as they take to the road to face off with the New York Islanders on Wednesday night.
The Golden Knights were the talk of the league last season but after a slow start to this year it looked as though their Cinderella run was going to leave them as one of the biggest underachievers this season. However, the Knights have shaken off their sluggish beginning and concerning road record to jump right back in the mix in the Pacific division and now they find themselves as a considerable favorite on the road against the Isles on Wednesday. Las Vegas will need to find a way to be more consistent away from T-Mobile Arena but things won’t come easy here as the Isles have been very good at home so far this season and with Robin Lehner expected to get the nod here he gives his side a very good chance at earning the win.
The Islanders meanwhile have stumbled to a 2-5 mark in their last 7 games after they looked like a potential dark horse in the Eastern Conference through the first month of the season and will be in tough against the Knights in this one. New York was playing with some early season fire after many had them projected for a basement finish after losing John Tavares and while that fuel helped them out of the gate we are starting to see more of the team we thought we would see in October. New York is 7-21 in their last 28 games against a team with a winning record and just 4-12 in their last 16 against the Western Conference and while Vegas has had their issues on the road there is a reason why the Isles are dogs in this spot.
The Knights are 8-2 in their last 10 overall and 4-1 in their last 5 against a team with a losing record while the Isles are winless in their last 5 games on Wednesday and have played to the Under in 7 of their last 8. These two sides will take time to feel each other out in a game that should easily come in under the total.
