The Washington Capitals go on the road to oppose the New York Islanders in Monday NHL action.

The Washington Capitals have been on a roll with five consecutive victories after upending the Rangers 5-3 on the road Saturday. New York saw scoring from Jimmy Vesey, Brady Skjel and Ryan Strome. Kevin Hayes gave the Rangers two assists and Alexander Georgiev allowed four goals on 27 shots to get the loss.

The balanced Capitals offense received scoring from Nic Dowd, Jakub Vrana, Alex Ovechkin, Brett Connolly and Tom Wilson. John Carlson added three helpers for Washington who saw Phoenix Copley pick up the win with 27 saves.

The New York Islanders have followed a two game skid with consecutive victories after upending Carolina 4-1 on Saturday. Justin Williams scored for the Hurricanes with the man advantage in the third with Scott Darling getting the loss with four goals scoring on 19 shots.

Valttteri Filpula, Anthony Brauvillier, Josh Bailey and Adam Pelich each lit the lamp for New York. Brock Nelson and Anders Lee posted two assists each for the Islanders while Thomas Greiss recorded 26 stops to get the win
