The New York Islanders were hoping that a four game home stand was exactly what they would need to get things back on track during this losing streak. Instead the Islanders have lost two straight and five overall as they enter Saturday night's contest with the Washington Capitals. This Islanders club has been a mess since Evgeni Nabokov went down and it doesn't look like there's any end in sight. Kevin Poulin allowed a goal in the first, a goal in the second, and then three in the third as the Islanders fell to the Detroit Red Wings 5-0 and dropped his record to 3-10-0 on the season. With two games remaining on their home stand the Islanders are desperate for a victory here as the Pittsburgh Penguins come to town before New York embarks on a brutal West Coast road trip. The Washington Capitals arrive to New York fresh off a victory over the Montreal Canadiens that helped them snap their four game losing streak. Eric Fehr's second period goal evened the score at 1-1 but Montreal took the lead back just over a minute later. Late in the third period it was Mikhail Grabovski scoring his eighth goal of the season to tie the game at 2-2 and send it to a shootout. In the skills competition Fehr, Alex Ovechkin, and Grabovski all scored to lift the Capitals to a 3-2 victory. These are two teams that have struggled of late but one of the biggest differences in the two is that the Capitals have a goaltender in Braden Holtby that they believe in and can steal them a few victories. Poulin looks like he should still be in the American Hockey League and there's nothing in sight for the club right now that's going to get the Islanders going again. Every game of late has been a desperation game for the Islanders and they continue to prove that they're just not a very good hockey club right now.

Washington -105

On July 1, 2008 I typed into Google "How Do I start A Blog" and I started my first website called "Miami Mitch's Place" where i shared my college football Picks and predictions as well as opinion. By the Fall I had heard from many that the title made it sound like the site was about Miami so I changed it to "College Football Place" (, After the 2008 college football season I change focus and launched, it wasn't long after that when I realized I just wanted one place to add all sports, and that's when Sports Chat Place was born.

This site is a big Thank You to all of our readers, visitors, and community where we have been given a platform to talk to the masses about sports and hopefully help put you on some winners. If you need to reach me just shoot an email to [email protected]
