The Caps return home looking to take a 3-2 series lead while the Isles can head back to Long Island with a chance at wrapping the series up.
The New York Islanders stole game three away from the Caps to take the series lead but they were dealt an overtime punch in the mouth in game four on Tuesday night and now they head back to DC looking to regain home ice advantage. The Isles have had a great season and have taken a lot of people by surprise and on paper they do match up quite well with the Capitals and the one edge that many thought went the way of Washington in a very big manner was in the crease, but Jaroslav Halak has held his own and will be the guy for the rest of the playoffs for New York. The Isles took game one of this series in Washington so they know they can win on the road but this will be an amped up Verizon Center who will be in the mood for a ton of celebrating.
The Capitals survived a scare and kept their season and Cup aspirations intact with a big time win in New York on Tuesday night claiming an overtime thriller at the Coliseum. Washington had been struggling mightily on the road in the postseason over the last few years especially Alex Ovechkin but his two points fueled the Caps to a win and now they are in the driver's seat in this series if they can get a win at home tonight. While the Isles have had success in Washington and are considered underdogs to win the series at this point I think Washington makes a statement here as they will have the home crowd on their side and I think we finally see an offensive outburst from them here.
