The Lightning look to control home ice advantage and take the series lead against the Rangers as the teams do battle in game three.
The New York Rangers head into Tampa Bay in unfamiliar territory on Wednesday as they recover from their first multi goal loss of these playoffs and must show up with a better effort here before they let the series with the Lightning slip away. The Rangers were pasted for six goals on Monday which goes to show not only are they human defensively but that Tampa Bay can explode offensively at any given moment and if they continue to get pucks on Lundqvist than the Bolts could book their ticket to the Stanley Cup final for the first time since 2004. The Blue Shirts need a bounce back game and much like we saw last round from Tampa who landed a 6-2 victory in game two in Montreal the follow up wasn't nearly as explosive.
The Lightning proved that their being in the East final with the New York Rangers is no fluke and that they should start taking them seriously as the league's best offense went to work on the game's best defense and one of the best goaltenders. Tampa returns home where they have been moderately successful during the playoffs and incredibly successful in the regular season with a chance at heading back to MSG with a 3-1 series lead if they can sweep both games at Amalie Arena. However, the Blue Shirts are resilient and will throw everything they have back at the Bolts in the early going to try and get the upper hand. All things considered, I have Tampa winning this series and I think they get it done in this one as they take an OT thriller by a typical Rangers score, 2-1.
