The Rangers look to snap a rare three game losing streak as they host the Carolina Hurricanes at MSG on Monday night.
The Carolina Hurricanes head into the Big Apple on Monday night looking to extend the Rangers' futility streak to four games which for this group is completely unheard of as they have been one of the most consistent teams in the league over the last few seasons and have looked like world beaters so far this year. The Hurricanes have had a tough start to the season sitting in seventh in the Metro and 14 points back of the Rangers for second place and while the expectations for them to succeed this year weren't strong to begin with it is worth noting they haven't surprised anyone with where they are. Cam Ward will likely get the start in this one as he will go up against Henrik Lundqvist who will surely be out to redeem himself after a tough weekend.
The Rangers have lost their grip atop the Metro division and now sit a point behind the surging Washington Capitals in what is shaping up to be one of the more exciting story lines in the entirety of the NHL this season. New York has a very solid roster and should be considered among a handful of teams as a Stanley Cup favourite but this speed bump has shown they're susceptible just like everyone else and on any given day they can lose a game. However, this is going to be a blood bath as New York will look to use the Canes as their beating post and while the line isn't great it is worth taking a shot in regulation or even on the puck line in this one as the rangers should cruise.
