The Chicago Blackhawks go on the road to oppose the New York Rangers in Thursday NHL action.

The Chicago Blackhawks are a much needed spark after an 8-5 loss at New Jersey has the team looking at four straight losses.

Patrick Kane scored twice for Chicago with Brent Seabrook, Dominik Kahun and Brandon Saad also lighting the lamp.

Cam Ward absorbed the loss for the Blackhawks with six goals scoring on 25 shots before Collin Delia stopped 14-15 shots in relief.

Blake Coleman and Kyle Palmieri scored twice each for New Jersey with Travis Zajac, Sami Vatanen, Kevin Rooney and Brett Seney finding the scoring column. Mackenzie Blackwood picked up the win for the Devils with five goals given up on 32 shots.

The New York Rangers opened up their offense to down visiting Carolina 6-2 on Tuesday. Saku Maenalanen scored both goals for the Hurricanes with Curtis McElhinney giving up six goals on 28 shots to get the loss.

New York received two goals each from Mika Zibanejad, Pavel Buchnevich and Tony DeAngelo. Zibanejad and Mats Zuccarello added a pair of helpers each and Henrik Lundqvist picked up the win for the Rangers with 34 saves.

Over is 7-0-1 in Blackhawks last 8 vs. a team with a losing record and over is 4-0 in Blackhawks last 4 when their opponent allows 2 goals or less in their previous game and Blackhawks are 1-7 in their last 8 games playing on 2 days rest. Over is 4-0 in Rangers last 4 home games and over is 4-0 in Rangers last 4 after allowing 2 goals or less in their previous game and Rangers are 1-6 in their last 7 games following a win. Blackhawks are 4-0 in the last 4 meetings in New York and Blackhawks are 4-0 in the last 4 meetings and road team is 7-2 in the last 9 meetings.

Neither team has been racking up the wins but goals have been common. Something small on the over if you must bet this…

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
