The Rangers and Blackhawks meet up in an Original Six show down on Wednesday that many have considered a possible Stanley Cup preview.
The Blackhawks are looking to sweep the New York franchises after upending the Islanders in Chicago last night as they head into MSG to battle with the Rangers. Chicago had one of their most dominating efforts of the season last night as they scored early and often en route to a 4-1 win against the Isles who have struggled of late but have been one of the league's best teams all season. The Hawks are chasing the Preds and the Blues in the Central division and with last night's win they not only pulled to within four points of Nashville for second place they distanced themselves form the pack in the wild card race and have inched closer to locking up a playoff spot. Corey Crawford is expected to get the call as he will go up against Cam Talbot.
The Rangers sit in a tie with a handful of teams atop the league standings with 95 points and are very much in the race for the President’s Trophy and they can take a step closer with a big time win here against the Hawks. New York got off to a slow start this season and didn't look like they were going to have much of a chance to reclaim the Eastern Conference title but their team speed, depth, and overall talent has propelled them to the top of the Eastern Conference once again and they will be in the mix come playoff time. The Blue Shirts have done this all the while being without Henrik Lundqvist so when he comes back they should be that much better and in my books are at least a co-favourite to win the Cup. This is a good spot for New York at home as they get the Hawks on a back to back and I see them getting the two points.
