The Oilers look for their seventh win in a row and second in as many nights as they travel from Boston to New York to battle the Rangers.
The Edmonton Oilers are the league's hottest team right now having won six consecutive match ups including an overtime win against the Boston Bruins at the Garden last night and have gone from being in the league basement to third place in the Pacific division. Edmonton was expected to once again lock up a top draft pick after Connor McDavid went down with a collarbone injury but perhaps it has been a blessing in disguise as it has forced a number of other players to step up including Leon Draisatl who has been remarkable since being in the league full time. Edmnton will have their work cut out for them here though as the Rangers haven't been playing well of late and will be looking for an inspired effort on home ice.
The Rangers are 2-6-2 in their last 10 contests and have fallen into third place in the Metro division thanks to recent surges from the Islanders and Capitals who operate the second and first seeds respectively. New York is traditionally a very tough team to beat at home and this season is no different as they are 12-4-1 at MSG this year and with Edmonton's success coming on home ice for the most part it sets up a pretty lopsided game from the odds makers who already have New York celebrating a victory here. The winning streak will end for Edmonton soon and the Rangers will right the ship and it could very well all come to fruition tonight but I hate the line here and as such I think the total is the best bet and if the Oilers are going to win here they'll need to be a lot better in their own end. This one stays under.
