The Montreal Canadiens take the ice at the New York Rangers in a Friday NHL tilt.

The Montreal Canadiens are eyeing consecutive wins after routing Detroit 8-1 on Tuesday. Anthony Mantha scored a second period goal for the Red Wings to avoid the shutout. Mike Green and Filip Hronek assisted for Detroit and Jimmy Howard gave up six goals on 22 shots before Jonathan Bernier stopped 10-12 shots in relief.

Andrew Shaw topped the Montreal attack with his first hat trick while Max Domi tallied two times. Tomas Tater, Brandan Gallagher and Joel Armia joined the Habs scoring spree with Jonathan Drouin posting four helpers and Domi assisting three times. Carey Price picked up the victory for Montreal with a 28 save performance.

The New York Rangers have dropped three of four following a 4-3 OT loss to visiting Tampa Bay on Wednesday. New York received scoring off the sticks of Mika Zibanejad, Jimmy Vesey and Boo Nieves. Vesey also posted an assist and Alexandar Georgiev was charged with four goals on 30 shots. 

Tyler Johnson, JT Miller and Dan Girardi scored in regulation for Tampa Bay. Victor Hedman netted the winner in overtime and Nikita Kucherov assisted three times and Steven Stamkos added two helpers for the Lightning who received 33 stops from Andrei Vasilevskiy.
Canadiens are 16-37 in their last 53 games as a road underdog and Canadiens are 3-7 in their last 10 vs. Eastern Conference and Canadiens are 1-5 in their last 6 road games.
