The New York Rangers look to snap out of their ugly losing streak as they host the Nashville Predators at MSG on Saturday afternoon.
The Preds look to continue their strong play of late as they are 4-1 in their last five games and will look to beat up on the Rangers who have looked awful to start the season as they have lost six of their first seven contests and haven’t looked like the group many expected to be in contention for top spot in the Eastern Conference. The Preds are coming off a Stanley Cup berth last season and while they started off slow they are looking much better of late and on the road here on Saturday afternoon they are getting great value as a road dog against a Rangers side that shouldn’t be favoured against anybody right now.
The Rangers have dominated games against the Western Conference lately as they are 21-8 in their last 29 games but so far this season they haven’t looked like a group capable of going on a run in the Metro division but a Saturday afternoon show down with the Preds could be the boost they need. The Rangers are too talented to continue their down fall but on the whole they may not be as good as people think and they could be in for a long season as losers of five games in a row they aren’t doing themselves any favours with the sports books.
The Preds are 1-6 in their last seven road games and 4-1 in their last five overall while the rangers are winless in their last eight against a team with a winning record and have dropped their last four at home. The Preds are playing the better hockey right now and while New York’s losing steak will end soon it isn’t worth the play here as Nashville gets the win.
