The Line: New York Rangers +120 / Nashville Predators -140 --- Over/Under: 5.5
The Nashville Predators kick off their NHL schedule on the road at the New York Rangers.
The Nashville Predators were the best team in the NHL during the regular season with a 53-18-11 record binging home the Presidents Trophy. Nashville was a solid offensive team with 3.2 goals ranking 7th but the team was even better defensively with 2.5 goals allowed ranking second.
Filip Forsberg, Viktor Arvidsson, Craig Smith and Kevin Fiala were all 20+ goal scorers a season ago and combined for over 100 goals although more offense from someone else would be huge. The Predators will be solid between the pipes once again with Vezina winner Pekka Rinne back with one year left on his contract after recording a 2.31 GAA.
The New York Rangers saw their string of seven straight postseason appearances end at seven with a 34-39-9 record leaving the team at the bottom of the Metropolitan.
New York struggled to score with 2.8 goals ranking 22nd while giving up 3.2 goals was 28th in the NHL. The Rangers are rebuilding but Mika Zibanejad, Mats Zuccarello and Kevin Hayes give the offense some punch while veteran goalie Henrik Lundqvist looks to improve on a 2.98 GAA.
Predators are 0-6 in their last 6 games following a win and under is 6-1 in Predators last 7 games after allowing 8 or more power play opportunities in their previous game and over is 5-1 in Predators last 6 Thursday games. Rangers are 0-4 in their last 4 after allowing 2 goals or less in their previous game and over is 4-0-2 in Rangers last 6 home games and over is 3-0-1 in Rangers last 4 games following a win. Predators are 0-4 in the last 4 meetings in New York and home team is 7-1 in the last 8 meetings and over is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings.
Too be perfectly honest I don’t know what we will see from Lundqvist so something on the over…
