The New York Islanders head into MSG on Saturday afternoon to take on the New York Rangers as these two bitter rivals renew hostilities in a weekend matinee.
The Islanders look to snap out of their ugly road losing skid and send their bitter rivals to defeat in the process as they take on the Rangers at Madison Square Garden on Saturday and with a victory the Isles can improve to 11-1 in their last 12 Saturday games. However, the Isles are going to have their work cut out for them as the Rangers are 5-1 in their last six Saturday games and 13-4 in their last 17 home games and while the Isles have had success in this series they aren’t playing very good hockey at the moment and you can be sure the Rangers want this one just as badly if not more than the Isles do. Thomas Greiss is expected to get the start as he will face off against Henrik Lundqvist as both goalies will aim to keep the puck out of the net which has been a very tough task to accomplish when these two sides meet up.
The Rangers meanwhile have beaten up on teams with a losing record and have had great success against divisional foes but they know full well they are going to get New York’s very best here as this is approaching must win territory for the Isles who are quickly falling out of the race in the Metro division. New York has dropped five of their last six at MSG against the Islanders and when these two sides meet up the goal judges have been getting some serious work as the over is 5-1-1 in their last seven meetings and is over in the Islanders’ last 27 or 37 tries which gives us a lean here that this one is going to hit the over as both teams have a boat load of talent in the offensive zone.
The Isles are 10-1 in their last 11 Saturday games and winless in their last seven road games while the Rangers are 5-2 in their last seven against the Metro and 2-6 in their last eight on three day’s rest. The Islanders aren’t playing well right now but this is a huge bounce back spot as they take down the Rangers at MSG.
