The Ottawa Senators look to build on their home win against the Carolina Hurricanes last night as they head to the road to battle the New York Rangers on Sunday.
The Senators scored a big win at home against the Hurricanes last night as a late goal by Kyle Turris stood up as the winner in what was a thrilling contest back and forth, but now they have to shift their focus to the Rangers who have been among the best teams in the Eastern Conference this season. Ottawa has been a pleasant surprise this season as many had them pegged for a regression in the Atlantic division but so far they are looking like a team destined for a playoff run as they have taken down some very good teams and have a great shot on Sunday to defeat the Rangers who had the day off on Saturday. Ottawa will likely send Criang Anderson back to the crease here in the second leg of a double header while the Rangers will counter with Henrik Lundqvist.
The Rangers meanwhile look to take advantage of a Sens group that played in a tight battle last night as they welcome in their Eastern Conference counter parts on Sunday after an idle day yesterday and should be well rested here. New York has a very deep group and should be in the mix for a playoff spot and a division title all season long as they match up well with most teams in the league and are right there with the Penguins and Capitals who are considered the top dogs in the Metropolitan.
The Sens are 4-1 in their last five road games and 4-1 in their last five against the East while the Rangers are 4-1 in their last five Sunday games and 8-2 in their last 10 against a team with a winning record. Ottawa got the win last night but are in tough here against a very good home ice team in New York and I think they get the best of a tired Sens side here.
