The Philadelphia Flyers and New York Rangers meet up at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night in a Metro division show down.
The Flyers look to claim their fifth win in a row and send the Rangers to yet another loss to start off 2018 in what should be a very exciting contest between these two bitter rivals who meet up in another divisional show down. The Flyers have been red hot and have had some big time confidence boosting wins in their last couple of weeks and if they can keep their offense rolling this is going to be a very tough group to beat if they can get into the playoffs as they have a ton of depth and some game breakers that can make them a very tough team to defeat. The Flyers are expected to send Brian Elliott to the crease here as he will face off against Henrik Lundqvist who will need to have a sharp outing if the Rangers are going to snap out of their losing funk.
The Rangers head into Tuesday night’s show down with a 1-4 stretch in their last five games but they have still played very well on home ice and will look to keep that rolling here against the Flyers who are playing their best hockey of the season. New York went into the Christmas break as one of the league hottest teams and while they are still very much a threat in the Eastern Conference they need to regain their early season form as they have hit a bit of a rough patch and are in stiff competition in the Metro division and until they can rejoin the ranks they are going to have a tough time generating wins. The Rangers are 13-5 in their last 18 home games and have won six of their last seven meetings with the Flyers so they should feel confident in this spot despite the way the Flyers have been playing.
The Flyers are 1-5 in their last six Tuesday games and 4-1 in their last five against the East while the Rangers are 18-6 in their last 24 following a loss of three or more goals and 2-5 in their last seven against the East. The Flyers are playing very well right now but this looks like a spot for them to cool off as the Rangers are very good at home and they show why in this one.
