The Flyers look to shake off a loss to the Devils in their last outing as they continue their road trip in New York on Sunday against the Rangers.
The Philadelphia Flyers looked as though they had turned a corner a couple of weeks ago as they had some pretty solid resume building victories to their name and looked as though they were going to make a push at a wild card spot but a 4-4-2 stretch has them in seventh in the Metro and six back of the third seeded Islanders. Philly certainly has some talent but are maybe a year or two away from getting back in the discussion of an Eastern Conference contender and with the trade deadline around the corner we can expect the Flyers to be involved in some capacity. The Flyers head into MSG with with a 24-20-10 mark and an 11-12-3 record on the road but take on a Rangers side that is 31-18-6 with a sparkling 20-5-3 mark on home ice.
The Rangers continue to beat teams down who walk into Madison Square Garden and the odds makers in this one are thinking along the same lines as the Blue Shirts are pretty heavy favourites in this spot. New York is still very much In the thick of things in the Metro division as they currently sit in second place but with 10 points separating second from seventh they are not in the clear yet and need to continue their strong play if they’re going to lock up a spot. The Rangers seem to be missing a bit of something this season but in this spot against the Flyers I think they more than capable of grabbing two points and that is where we are leaning on Sunday.
