The Philadelphia Flyers visit Madison Square Garden to face the New York Rangers in a Sunday NHL bout.

The Philadelphia Flyers have been inconsistent at times but the winning streaks have been lengthy and the team is on track to make the postseason. Philadelphia has won five of six capped by a 2-1, overtime win at the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday night.

The Blue Jackets saw Cam Atkinson score their only goal with 3:28 remaining in the third after the Flyers led 1-0 on a second period tally from Wayne Simmonds. Sean Couturier lit the lamp at 1:52 of the extra session to make Michal Neuvirth and his 35 stops a winner while Sergei Bobrovsky made 23 saves.

The New York Rangers are trying to save their season with a prolonged hot streak needed. New York appeared to be heading in the right direction with consecutive victories but the team has dropped back to back games following a 3-0 defeat at the New York Islanders on Thursday.

The Islanders received scoring off the sticks of Josh Bailey, Jordan Eberle and Thomas Hickey. Matthew Barzal added three helpers and Nick Leddy posted a pair of assists to lift the Isles and Jaroslav Halak’s monster 50 saves to the win. Henrik Lundqvist allowed three goals on 35 shots  to get the loss for the Rangers.

Flyers are 4-0 in their last 4 road games and over is 5-0 in Flyers last 5 games playing on 1 days rest and Flyers are 5-1 in their last 6 overall. Over is 4-0 in Rangers last 4 in the fourth game of a 4-in-6 days situation and over is 6-1 in Rangers last 7 home games and over is 5-1 in Rangers last 6 home games vs. a team with a winning road record. Flyers are 6-20 in the last 26 meetings in New York and Flyers are 11-27 in the last 38 meetings.

No line has been released but the Rangers have dominated this series. I’m not betting them but perhaps a small shot on Philadelphia…

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
