The Line: New York Rangers / Toronto Maple Leafs --- Over/Under:
NHL action comes to Madison Square Garden where the New York Rangers host the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The Toronto Maple Leafs have gone from hot to struggling with losses in four of five where one of the most dangerous offenses in the game has been silent. Toronto comes off of a 4-2 loss at the Columbus Blue Jackets on Wednesday night where both ends of the ice could not come through. The Maple Leafs scoring came from Jake Gardiner and Mitch Marner with Gardiner posting an assist.
The balanced Blue Jackets attack received goals off the sticks of Seth Jones, Pierre-Luc Dubois on the power play, Lukas Sediak and Alexander Wennberg with 2:57 remaining in the third. Joonas Korpisalo recorded 39 stops to help Columbus end a two game skid while Curtis McElhinney stopped 33 shots.
The New York Rangers have been solid over the first half of the season because they have been able to avoid long losing streaks. New York had won three straight before falling at the New Jersey Devils 4-3 in a shootout on Thursday night. Jimmy Vessey, Nick Holden, and Kevin Hayes each scored for the Rangers with Henrik Lundqvist stopping 45 shots.
New Jersey fired pucks at the Rangers net the entire game with John Moore, Blake Coleman and Brian Boyle scoring in regulation. Boyle also score the winner in round four of the shootout to lift Cory Schneider and his 25 stops to the win.
Over is 5-0-1 in Maple Leafs last 6 vs. Metropolitan and Maple Leafs are 0-4 in their last 4 road games and over is 5-1-1 in Maple Leafs last 7 vs. Eastern Conference. Rangers are 4-0 in their last 4 Saturday games and Rangers are 5-1 in their last 6 when their opponent scores 2 goals or less in their previous game and Rangers are 13-3 in their last 16 home games. Road team is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings and Maple Leafs are 2-6 in the last 8 meetings and over is 14-6-1 in the last 21 meetings.
The Rangers are playing the better hockey right now so pending goalies I am looking at New York or possibly the over…
