The Rangers look to avenge a Friday afternoon loss in Boston when they return back to MSG to host the Canucks on Saturday.
New York played one of their better games of the season in yesterday’s back and forth affair but what was a 2-1 lead evaporated into a 3-2 loss in what could have been a statement win for the underachieving Rangers. New York currently sits in third place in the Metro division with an even 13-13 mark this season but with the roster they have and the changes they made in the offseason the expectations for the Blue Shirts are a little higher than where they stand right now. Henrik Lundqvist played yesterday so Cam Talbot gets the nod against the Canucks and he has been brilliant in a back up role this season sporting a 5-1 mark and a 1.41 GAA. Talbot will go one on one with Roberto Luongo of the Canucks.
Vancouver heads into action this afternoon in 5th place in the Pacific division and have just three wins in their last 10 games overall but this is going to be a bloodbath as the current coaches of both teams play their first game against each other’s former teams as Alain Vigneault and John Tortorella swapped places in the offseason. The Canucks have underachieved as well this year as they were projected to once again finish at or near the top of the Western Conference standings but with the way the top dogs in the West are playing right now I wouldn’t be surprised if the Canucks have to scrape by just to get into the postseason. In what should be a very charged atmosphere I actually like the road team to come away with a win as the Rangers played a hard fought game yesterday against Boston and I think it is the Canucks who have the advantage in terms of talent.
