NHL News: Player News and Updates for 1/24/15

We’ve officially entered the weekend, which means we’re just one day away from the NHL’s 2015 All-Star Game. We’ve got plenty to talk about this morning, even now that most of the league’s players are resting at home. Let’s check out some of the headlines in our daily wrap-up.

The Penguins sent a trio of players back down to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton this week, including center Andrew Ebbett. He scored six points in his 18 appearances for the Pens and will be among the first recalled for depth if the need arises.

Good news for the Blue Jackets. Center Artem Ansimov, who is battling a triceps injury, might be able to gain clearance to hit the ice as early as next week.
Anisimov has been out of commission since November due to his ailment, but has been able to do some solo skating in the meantime. Once he gets back with the team for regular practices, we’ll probably get a better idea of when he could return.

Speaking of guys who are close to returning, the Jackets also have defenseman Ryan Murray in that category. He also could gain clearance to get back to it by next week.
Murray is getting over a knee injury and has been practicing for a couple of weeks now. He’s had trouble with his knee ever since having surgery in March and has played just four games this season.
Don’t expect Columbus to throw Murray out there on a whim; they’ll be extra cautious here given the injury history. If all goes well, we’ll see him sometime next month.

Let’s make it a Blue Jackets injury trifecta today and check out goalie Sergei Bobrovsky. His condition isn’t as rosy, as he’s fighting a groin injury right now.
This groin injury is reportedly on his right side, which is different from the one he suffered last month. Most people expect him to be out for around a month again. In the meantime, the Jackets will have to make due with Curtis McElhinney and Anton Forsberg as replacements in net.
