The NHL will be very busy once again today, as we’ve got eight games set for the coming hours. Grab that seat on the couch, get settled in and let’s take our daily look around the league as we wait for those pucks to drop today.
Roman Josi, D, Nashville Predators: Josi had a nice game yesterday, and the Predators were able to fend off the visiting Rangers by a score of 3-2. Mike Ribeiro posted the game-winning goal in the third, and Josi had a goal and an assist.
Nashville is now 34-12-6, while the Rangers fall to 30-16-4. They’re 11-5-0 in their past 16 games, however.
Justin Williams, RW, Los Angeles Kings: Now let’s visit with the defending champion Kings and check out Williams. He posted two goals on four shots yesterday, helping L.A. to a 4-2 win against the Lightning at Amalie Arena in Tampa.
Tyler Toffoli and Drew Doughty put up the other goals here, as the Kings moved to a 22-18-12 record. It was their first win so far on their current five-game road trip.
James Reimer, G, Toronto Maple Leafs: For the first time in 12 games, the Maple Leafs can call themselves winners. They stopped an 11-game losing skid lst night with a big 5-1 victory over the Oilers at Air Canada Cantre.
Reimer put up 31 saves on 32 shots, while Peter Holland managed a goal and two assists. The Leafs are now 23-27-4 on the season, while Edmonton continues to free-fall to 14-30-9.
Ryan Miller, G, Vancouver Canucks: Pittsburgh’s issues were on full display in Vancouver yesterday, as the Canucks cruised to an easy 5-0 victory at Rogers Arena.
Miller was a brick wall on 31 saves, bagging the shutout. Radim Vrbata put up two assists and the team bagged a couple of power-play goals on the way to a 29-19-3 record.
The Penguins are now 30-15-8 on the season.
