We’ve got a 10-game set to look forward to in the NHL today, and that includes an afternoon game in the next few hours. While we’re waiting, let’s check out some of the notable players and situations out there in the league.
Brandon Dubinsky, C, Columbus Blue Jackets: Dubinsky returned to the Jackets’ lineup last night against the Devils, and it couldn’t have come at a better time. He posted a goal and an assist in the 3-2 victory at Prudential Center, ending a seven-game losing streak for Columbus.
Justin Falk also scored a goal and posted an assist, giving the Jackets a 27-33-4 record on the season so far.
Devan Dubnyk, G, Minnesota Wild: Dubnyk earned top honors last night in net against the Hurricanes at PNC Arena. He posted 37 saves on 38 shots in the 3-1 win, bringing his record to 18-3-1 since being picked up from the Coyotes in mid-January.
Zach Parise helped out on the offensive end, posting a goal and an assist for the 36-22-7 Wild. They’ve won five in a row.
Mark Stone, RW, Ottawa Senators: The Senators are on quite a run recently, and it just might get them into the Stanley Cup Playoffs this season. Stone put up a goal and an assist in the team’s 3-2 win last night over the Sabres at Canadian Tire Centre, while goaltender Andrew Hammond made 24 saves.
The Senators are now 29-23-11 and trail the Bruins by three points in the second Wild Card slot.
Patric Hornqvist, RW, Pittsburgh Penguins: Hornqvist had another great game against the Ducks last night in Anaheim at Honda Center. He put up two goals in the 5-2 victory, while teammate Evgeni Malkin posted a goal and an assist of his own.
Hornqvist has 10 goals in his 21 career games against the Ducks.
The Penguins are now 37-18-9 and out west for another three games.
