We’ve got just one more day to wait before the start of the 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs, and the anticipation continues to build. While we’re waiting, let’s check out some of the notable players and situations out there in the NHL.
It looks like we won’t know what’s happening with the Flames’ Lance Bouma until late tonight or tomorrow morning. He’s currently listed as day-to-day with an upper-body injury.
The Flames will open their first-round series against the Canucks tomorrow. Bouma may or may not be on the ice. He posted 34 points in 78 appearances this season, and this will be his first trip to the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Before we leave Calgary, let’s check out Mark Giordano’s status. He was able to do some skating on his own yesterday, which is an encouraging step in his rehab from a biceps injury.
Giordano is still a little ways off from returning to game action, but should the Flames advance further into the playoffs, his chances of coming back will be greater.
Zdeno Chara of the Bruins will be playing with a permanent PCL tear for the rest of his days, according to sources close to the team.
Chara likely won’t have to miss any time with his knee issue, but it’s something to keep an eye on as the months go by.
The Oilers’ Ryan Nugent-Hopkins cracked a bone in his foot on March 30, after being struck by a puck.
Nugent-Hopkins had to sit the final six games of the season, ending his totals at 24 goals and 56 points. There’s still a chance he could be healed up well enough by the time the World Ice Hockey Championships roll around in May, however, so that’ll be something for Oilers fans to watch.
