So far, the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs have been very competitive. We’ve got another four games to look forward to in the coming hours, but in the meantime let’s go over some of the key players in the headlines right now. Here’s the latest.
Henrik Lundqvist, G, New York Rangers: The Rangers were able to build a 2-1 series lead last night in Pittsburgh on the strength of Lundqvist’s 23 saves, taking a decisive 2-1 victory against the Penguins.
Pittsburgh got just 11 shots in the first 40 minutes, falling to goals from Carl Hagelin and Chris Kreider.
Game 4 is Wednesday at Consol Energy Center at 7 PM ET.
Zach Parise, LW, Minnesota Wild: Parise and teammate Jason Pominville each logged a goal and an assist last night against the Blues, giving their squad a 2-1 edge in the series.
Goalie Devan Dubnyk completed the 3-0 shutout, posting 17 saves in a strong defensive effort from the Wild. Mikael Granlund helped out with a pair of assists.
St. Louis couldn’t get much going offensively, and seemed to struggle with the speedier Wild team.
Jakob Silfverberg, RW, Anaheim Ducks: Silfverberg earned star honors last night against the Jets, as he helped his team to a 5-4 overtime win with a goal and two assists. The Ducks had to rally three times to edge Winnipeg, completing the comeback with a Rickard Rakell goal at 5:12 into overtime.
The Ducks now lead the best-of-seven series at three games to zero. They’ll be going for the sweep tomorrow at MTS Centre, so the Jets will have to be on their game to avoid an embarrassment.
