The Senators look to keep rolling after blanking the Rangers in their last outing as they welcome the Buffalo Sabres to town on Tuesday night.
The Sabres head into the Canadian capital on Tuesday night looking to shake off a loss in New York last night in a game where they stole momentum in a hurry but couldn’t sustain it and fell by a 6-3 final. Buffalo sits in last place in the Atlantic division and will likely stay in that realm for the better part of the season and should be in competition for another top end draft pick but unlike the Blue Jackets they have shown signs of promise this season and have some very nice pieces to build around in the years to come. Buffalo is 10-11-2 on the road this season and could very well be going with Robin Lehner in this spot against his old team while the Sens are 12-7-4 at home and will counter with Craig Anderson who was brilliant in Ottawa’s win against the Rangers.
The Senators got a big win on Sunday but remain in a tough spot in the Atlantic division as they are five points back of the third seeded Bruins and have been pretty inconsistent to be considered a serious playoff contender Ottawa is three games above the .500 mark but as we saw last year they are known to go on late season surges and this year could be no different as they are prime for a run, especially if they can add a piece or two at the trade deadline. Ottawa matches up well with the Sabres but in the end I like the total more, especially if Lehner gets the start as he wants to put on a good show for the team who deemed him disposable in the off season. Ottawa has had trouble scoring as well and add in Buffalo’s back to back and I think we see the under cash here.
