The Ottawa Senators return home after a lengthy road trip and will welcome in the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday night.
The Hurricanes head back to the road where they have found themselves quite frequently to start the season and they will be in tough against a Sens team that will certainly have the crowd on their side tonight. The Canes are a tough team to figure out as they have some talent at both ends of the rink but seem to be missing something that we see in a playoff contender but at the moment they are 2-4-2 and have been decently competitive in their losses. Cam Ward is expected to get the call in the Carolina crease as he will match up against Craig Anderson who was brilliant in a 2-0 shutout win over the Oilers in Edmonton on Sunday night.
The Senators return home on Tuesday for what should be a very emotional and supportive crowd in the Canadian capital as it was announced this week that Anderson’s wife has been diagnosed with cancer. The goaltender responding in remarkable fashion in his return to the team as he posted a shutout against one of the hottest teams in the league in their building and after receiving a standing ovation from the Oilers crowd we can only imagine what we will hear on Tuesday. Ottawa is playing much better of late and swept their series in Alberta over the weekend and are favoured to make quick work of the Hurricanes on Tuesday night.
The Hurricanes are 2-8 in their last 10 overall and 1-5 in their last six Tuesday games while the Sens are 4-1 in their last five home games and 7-3 in their last 10 overall. Aside from the emotion of this game the Sens are just the better team and they should have no issues getting the victory tonight.
