The Senators look to build on their win against the Sabres on Tuesday night as they host the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday.
The Hurricanes continue to impress in the Eastern Conference and are coming off a big 2-1 win over the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday night as they head into Ottawa to battle a Sens side they are competing with for a wild card spot. The Canes have quietly pieced together a very strong season and after starting slow they have been one of the league’s bets over the last few months. Carolina sits in sixth in the Metro division but are just four points back of the Islanders for the third and final automatic berth in the division and if they can leave Ottawa with a victory it’ll put them in a great spot moving forward. The Canes are a modest 12-12-4 on the road this season and will throw Eddie Lack in the crease as he will go up against Craig Anderson who will look to lead the Sens to their 16th home ice win of the year.
The Senators finally got their first win with their new look roster as they outlasted the Buffalo Sabres in a shootout on Tuesday night and move closer to a wild card spot in the process. The Sens have had a disappointing season to date but as we saw last year they can go on a late season run and play their way into the second season and that starts with an inspired effort here against the Canes. Unfortunately for the Ottawa, the Hurricanes have been playing their best hockey of the season and sit with a higher mark in the league standing and while the Sens have been decent at home I think the Canes can come in and prove they belong in the postseason. Taking the value on the road team.
