The Colorado Avalanche go on the road to oppose the Ottawa Senators in Wednesday NHL action.
The Colorado Avalanche took advantage of a poor Toronto defense to end a three game skid 6-3 on Monday. Toronto took a 2-0 lead on second period goals by Igor Ozhiganov and Kasperi Kapanen with Mitch Marner scoring in the third. Auston Matthews assisted twice Frederik Andersen gave up four goals on 36 shots to get the loss for the Maple Leafs.
Carl Soderberg enjoyed a monster night for the Avalanche with a four goal performance. Mikko Rantanen and Matt Calvert also reached the scoring column and Semyon Varlamov picked up the win for Colorado with 17 stops.
The Ottawa Senators saw a modest two game winning streak end in a 4-1 defeat at San Jose on Saturday. Ryan Dzingel scored for Ottawa in the third with Bobby Ryan and Zack Smith getting assists while Anders Nilsson allowed three goals on 31 shots.
The balanced San Jose offense receive scoring from Joe Pavelski, Brent Burns, Joe Thornton and Melker Karllson. Burns gave the Sharks an assist and Martin Jones got the win with 27 saves.
