The Line: Ottawa Senators -152 / Dallas Stars +138 --- Over/Under: 5.5
The Ottawa Senators return to action on Sunday as they host the Dallas Stars at Scotiabank Place with both teams looking to end the week on a winning note.
The Stars stumbled out of the gates but have looked better of late despite coming off a loss to the Colorado Avalanche but they are just a game below .500 and match up well against a slumping Senators team. The Stars have received a boost since the return of Kari Lehtonen but they’ll need to do more if they want to be considered playoff contenders as they haven’t quite shown they have what it takes to complete in the Western Conference. Dallas does have some firepower up front and against a Sens team who has had difficulties keeping pucks off of Craig Anderson in net they will look to capitalize on any and all opportunities presented to them. Lehtonen should get the start for the Stars while Anderson will go for the Senators.
Ottawa is in a funk at the moment and it forced the Sens to make some line changes in their last outing against the Islanders but to no avail. Ottawa has fallen into 6th place in their division and are two games under .500 and have been dreadful on home ice, a place where they usually enjoy a lot of success. The Sens do have a matchup advantage over the Stars as they’re deeper on the back end have a better goalie and have more firepower up front but the Stars are no slouch and Ottawa will have to play much better in the defensive zone if they want to skate away victorious. While it is hard to back the Sens at the moment I think it is the only play here as I think they finally get back into the win column and send the home fans home happy.
