The Ottawa Senators welcome the Edmonton Oilers to the Canadien Tire Centre for an NHL matchup on Wednesday.

The Edmonton Oilers have struggled to string wins together and that has cost the team a shot at the postseason. Edmonton will be looking for back to back victories after routing Carolina 7-3 on Monday. Brock McGinn, Sebastian Aho and Teuvo Teravainen scored for the Hurricanes while Scott Darling gave up seven goals on 30 shots.

The explosive Oilers offense saw scoring from Drake Caggiula, Matt Benning, Ryan Strome, Pontus Aberg, Yohann Auvitu, Leon Draisaitl and Jesse Puljujarvi. Edmonton received two assists each from Aberg and Draisaitl and Cam Talbot recorded 30 saves to get the win.

The Ottawa Senators have followed a three game winning streak with back to back victories following a 7-2 loss versus the visiting Florida Panthers on Monday. Patrick Sieloff and Marian Gaborik scored for the Senators with Craig Anderson allowing four goals on 17 shots before Mike Condon stopped 19-22 shots in relief.

The explosive Panthers offense featured seven different scorers with Colton Sceviour, Keith Yandle, Evgenii Dadonov, Jared McCann, Frank Vatrano, Nick Bjugstad and Jamie McGinn all reaching the scoring column. McCann and Aleksander Barkov added two assists each for Florida and James Reimer made 33 saves to get the win.

Oilers are 0-4 in their last 4 in the fourth game of a 4-in-6 situation and under is 3-0-1 in Oilers last 4 Thursday games and under is 4-0 in Oilers last 4 games following a win. Under is 4-0 in Senators last 4 vs. Western Conference and Senators are 1-5 in their last 6 home games and over is 4-1 in Senators last 5 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game. Oilers are 0-4 in the last 4 meetings and over is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings in Ottawa and road team is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings.

For some reason the scoreboard has taken a beating in this matchup and I lean to the over pending goalies…

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
