The Ottawa Senators ended their rough patch on Tuesday with a road victory and followed that up with a stellar effort at home on Thursday against a slumping Canadiens team. Ottawa will look for another victory when they host the lowly Panthers on Saturday.
The Panthers have had a tough start to the season and things are starting to heat up in the front office as ownership and management decides whether to acquire some assets or make a push towards the playoffs this year. Florida is in tough as they don’t have a ton of talent and the majority of the skill they do have is in the form of first and second year players. Florida will look to Jakub Markstrom here in hopes of getting a boost but he matches up against Robin Lehner in the Ottawa crease who has been spectacular in relief of Craig Anderson. Jonathan Huberdeau is one of the bright spots for the Panthers and he will look to bring his offensive game to the Scotiabank Place as the Panthers are in tough here.
Ottawa has started to round into form after a speedbump over the past couple weeks had them spiralling down the standings but they’re starting to get into a groove. The Senators were pegged as a p[layoff contender once again this season after back to back years in which they clawed their way into the second season including last year when they upended the Montreal Canadiens in a shocking four game sweep. The Sens looked great on Thursday night against a quality opponent and I expect them to do more of the same against an undermanned Panthers team on home ice. Take the Sens to take this one big as I expect them to cover the puck line easily.
