Things have been pretty bad for the Devils to start the season but the've at least managed three overtime losses to pick up some points through their first six games. The news that Ryane Clowe was placed on injured reserve with a head injury isn't something that should be surprising but it's not something that this club needs right now. They need guys who are able to play physical and help them dictate play in their opponents zone. They've got some personnel issues they need to work out and there has to be some more consistency from Peter Deboer if this team is going to find a groove. It hit a low with a 3-0 shutout loss to the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday night and it won't get any easier when they travel to Ottawa to take on the Senators on Thursday. Ottawa scored a big 4-3 overtime win over the Phoenix Coyotes to end their West Coast road trip on a good note. Returning home and playing their first game after a long trip is never easy and they'll be taking on a desperate Devils club that usually plays pretty well at Scotiabank Place. Tread lightly here.
