The Sens and Flyers do battle in Ottawa on Sunday as both teams look to continue their push towards a wild card spot in the Eastern Conference.
The Flyers are coming off perhaps their biggest win of the season not only in terms of quantity but quality as well and considering the magnitude of how late it is in the season it could very well propel them into a playoff spot in a few weeks. Philly hasn't been overly impressive on the whole this season but have enjoyed great years out of Claude Giroux and Jakub Voracek and it would be a treat to see those guys play their best in a playoff atmosphere but with 10 points to make up and only 12 games to do it things don't look good for the Flyers. Steve Mason is expected to get the call as he will go up against Andrew Hammond.
The Sens have been one of the league's hottest teams of late and it is crazy to consider how far this team has come under Dave Cameron and if they can close out the season playing like this they could verty well jump into the final wild card spot in the East. Ottawa currently sits seven points back of the Capitals for that distinction but they do have two games in hand and with the way they have been playing it is tough to imagine a postseason without them as they have proven they can play with the league's best and currently have a system that is working very well. This game to me is a classic let down spot for the Flyers and with Ottawa having a lot more to play for here I think they show up at home and get another big time victory.
